Ortho Friends : Orthodontic treatments for children and adults
Your first visit to the orthodontist
Regardless of your age at your first visit, we will perform a clinical examination, and if treatment is indicated, then: photographs, 3D impressions and x-rays will be taken. At the end of this first contact, we will schedule a second appointment to explain our diagnosis, the recommended treatment plan and your quote in detail.
Child treatment
"Early" orthodontics allows for harmonious facial growth during the child's development.
At what age should you consult?
A malocclusion detected early is easier to treat when addressed at a young age. Rather than waiting for the complete loss of baby teeth, we recommend a first check-up visit around the age of 7-8 years.
What types of problems do we treat?
Lack of space, discrepancy between the upper and lower jaws, facial asymmetry, functional problems (mouth breathing, tongue thrust swallowing).
Teenage treatment
Orthodontic treatment, which begins during the growth spurt of adolescence, can correct malocclusions present at that time.
At Ortho Friends, the patient can choose between a fixed multi-bracket appliance or Invisalign® or Angel® aligner treatment.
Adult treatment
There is no age limit to start orthodontic treatment. If you did not have the chance to receive orthodontic treatment in your childhood, or if you have lost the final result of your previous treatment, contact us. Discreet solutions exist.
Financial investment and insurance reimbursement
Orthodontic treatment requires a sometimes significant financial investment. During the diagnosis, the orthodontist will provide you with a precise quote before starting any treatment.
This quote is personal, it is developed based on the patient's condition, but also on their choice of appliance. In our practice in Schaerbeek, you can choose a classic treatment or almost invisible ceramic brackets if you wish, or the Invisalign® and Angel® aligners.
In Belgium, if treatment is started before the patient's 15th birthday, there are two reimbursement formulas offered by mutual insurance companies depending on the patient's age:
Before your child's 9th birthday: this is a "first-line" treatment. For this first treatment, the mutual insurance covers a maximum of €800 (2024 rate).
After your child's 9th birthday: this treatment provides a reimbursement of €359 for the appliance and approximately €21 per consultation.
Supplementary dental insurances such as Dentalia, Dentimut plus, DKV, etc. may contribute to the patient's treatment payment. Ask your insurance company and your mutual insurance company for more information.
